CITY GUIDE RUHRGEBIET OST: MUSEUM OSTWALL IN THE DORTMUNDER U
Today, the former seven-story warehouse of the Union Brewery is a cultural center. In 2010 the Museum, previously located in the street Ostwall, moved into a fitting space of its own measuring 1,700 square meters. The institution presents outstanding works from its collection on the fourth and fifth floors. The Museum owns works by German Expressionists, although its main focus is on post-1960 art. In the early 1990s it acquired over 1,000 Fluxus and Zero works, by artists ranging from Marcel Duchamp to Joseph Beuys, from Günther Uecker to Jean Tinguely. Contemporary works are featured by artists such as Mark Dion, Thomas Rentmeister and Adrian Paci. The sixth floor is available for extensive exhibitions.
