Artists’ studios, contemporary art exhibition spaces and galleries can be found on the complex of the former cotton mill.

Describing itself as an "art factory", the Spinnerei serves as a workplace for artists as well as a venue for contemporary art exhibitions. The over 100-year-old industrial complex of a former cotton mill has over 20 buildings and 90,000 square meters of space available. When production at the cotton mill ceased in the early 1990s, artists moved in – followed by their workshops, offices and exhibition spaces. Since 2005, the three annual tours of the Spinnerei have been causing a great stir: this was when the renowned galleries Eigen+Art and Dogenhaus opened their doors. In addition, ASPN, Kleindienst, maerzgalerie, Laden für Nichts, b2, Filipp Rosbach, Johan Deumens are represented here. Moreover, contemporary art exhibitions are held in the Spinnerei’s large halls.

Address: Spinnereistraße 7, Leipzig; please consult the Spinnerei Website for gallery exhibition programs, guided tour dates and further information.
