The major collection of contemporary art includes many a highlight.

It is the prime address for contemporary art: Not only because it is a truly downtown location, fitting perfectly onto a triangular site. But also because its collection offers a representative cross section of the international art world since the 1960s. The 4,500 strong collection includes 440 artists and works by the likes of Rosemarie Trockel, Thomas Ruff and Bruce Nauman not to mention Francis Alÿs, Teresa Margolles and Gregor Schneider. The MMK is the latest addition to Frankfurt’s museums, designed by Hans Hollein and boasting 4,000 square meters of exhibition space. In 40 individually shaped rooms, art and post-modern architecture interact fruitfully.
