The rebirth of the Baroque dream city

For 450 years, the capital city of the State of Saxony has been renowned as an artistic gesamtkunstwerk. Marvelous historical buildings showcase Dresdens world-famous masterpieces. Many of the buildings have risen like a phoenix from the ashes: The Schloss with the treasures in its Green Vault, the Albertinum with a collection of art since the 19th century, or the Semperbaus Gallery of Old Masters. Amazingly, there is even space left for contemporary art, in the Kunsthalle in Lipsiusbau, in the Kunsthaus and the Motorenhalle.
