World-famous Impressionists and marvelous private collections

Bremen largely has private sponsorship to thank for its art. Back in the early 20th century, the Kunstverein with the support of is members acquired world-class Impressionist paintings when nobody wanted them. They are still shown in the Kunsthalle, which is to be expanded to include two new annexes in 2011. Once again private sponsors will be involved. Since 1991, large private collections featuring contemporary art have been at home in the Weserburg a collectors museum, which meanwhile acts as a national model.
